  • David Samuels (Bottom)

David has been an actor for over 40 years, having earned his Drama degree from Bennington College in Vermont (and even appearing with the local professional theater, Oldcastle, in She Stoops to Conquer (Diggory)). He pursued his career in acting in Los Angeles for a time, but soon realized that he would probably have to give up eating and sleeping to make it in Hollywood. Supplementing his love of theater meant getting a "real" job, which he did at NASA in between acting gigs. One thing led to another and he and his husband moved to the Washington, DC area, where once again sustaining the lifestyle to which David had become accustomed triumphed over his acting career. Indeed, David took an 8-year hiatus from the stage and was only persuaded back when he was playing in the orchestra pit for a Gilbert & Sullivan operetta, and looked at the actors on the boards and knew he wanted to be with them. David then worked assiduously in theaters large and small, and eventually joined a professional company in Bethesda, MD, Quotidian Theatre. Some his finest work was performed there including The Night Alive (Doc), The Cherry Orchard (Yepikhodov), The Seafarer (Nicky), A Lesson From Aloes (Piet), and many others including An Irish Twist on A Midsummer Night's Dream - where he also played Bottom. This appearance as Bottom marks his debut at Fort Salem, and he is particularly pleased to be working with this amazing cast and crew.
