Romeo and Juliet

    JULIET / FIRST CITIZEN

    Isabel (they/them) is a first year student at Bennington College focusing on environmental studies and data science, and they are thrilled to be making their Fort Salem debut! A 2025 Jimmy Award nominee for the role of Belle in Beauty and the Beast, other favorite roles include Emma (The Prom), Winnie Foster (Tuck Everlasting), Ms Trunchbull and Matilda (Matilda the Musical), and Zaneeta (The Music Man). Isabel is an award winning actor and director from Central Massachusetts and loves getting outside and making music. @the_isabelc

  • Katherine Danforth-Hayes

    ROMEO

    Katherine (she/her) is a Hoosick Falls native and a graduate of SUNY Potsdam. She has appeared in Fort Salem Theater productions of “Pride and Prejudice” (Mr Bennet/Charlotte), “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (Lysander), “Into the Woods” (Cinderella’s Mother), and “Godspell” (Learn Your Lessons Well soloist). Other acting credits include “Twelfth Night” (Olivia), “Othello” (Cassio), “Peter and the Starcatcher” (Mrs Bumbrake), “A Box of Monkeys” (Mrs Ondego-Jones), “All’s Well That Ends Well” (Lafew), and “Twelfth Night” (Viola) at Hubbard Hall. Formerly a proud staff member and youth production director at Hubbard Hall Center for the Arts and Education, Katherine now works at the Bennington Early Childhood Center in Vermont.

  • Anna Dempf

    PRINCESS ESCALUS / SECOND SERVANT / PETER

    Anna (she/her) is an actor and special education teacher from upstate New York. She received her BFA in Acting and BA in English from SUNY Fredonia in 2019, and her MA in Special Education from Eastern New Mexico University in 2023. Her most recent acting credits include the title role in Eurydice at Hubbard Hall, Desdemona in Othello with the Incite Shakespeare Company in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the title role in Mariana Pineda at Teatro Paraguas, Antonia in Much Ado About Nothing, and Adrianna in The Comedy of Errors with Santa Fe Classic Theater.

  • Alanah “Jackie” Grant

    LADY CAPULET / FRIAR JOHN

    Jackie (she/they) has been acting for about ten years in Massachusetts, Vermont, and upstate New York. Her previous shows include Clue (Mrs. White), The Cake (Macy), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Hippolyta), and Sister Act (Deloris), Mary Poppins (Mrs. Corry), Drowsy Chaperone (Trix the Aviatrix), Kinky Boots (Pat), Hamlet (Ophelia), and The Rocky Horror Show (Phantom), with her most recent role being Ayah in Secret Garden with Glens Falls Community Theater. Jackie gives her thanks to this fun, welcoming community and looks forward to future shows together!

  • Laurie Kenney

    MONTAGUE / FIRST MUSICIAN

    Laurie (she/her) is making her debut at Fort Salem Theater. Recent credits include De Guiche and Stage Manager in “Moon Over Buffalo” at Arlington Common Community Theater, Scenic Designer for “Eurydice” at Hubbard Hall, ASM for “As You Like It” at Hubbard Hall and Builder/Painter for many shows at Fort Salem. Laurie lives in Shushan, but is a native of Connecticut. She is the Program Coordinator at Hubbard Hall. Laurie has a BA in Drama from Marymount College (Tarrytown, NY) and also spent a year in London studying with the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA). After college she returned to Marymount as a production coordinator and instructor. She was the Stage Manager of the Downtown Cabaret Theatre of Bridgeport, Connecticut for several years. After many years in the corporate world and the country club business, she jumped back into the theater. Her love is “behind the scenes”, but has had a few acting roles. The most memorable was (Carter) in “Uncommon Women and Others” while in college.

    TYBALT / FIRST WATCHMAN

    Kim (she/they) is extremely excited to be making her debut with Fort Salem Theater. Kim has been working in the theater for over 10 years be it acting, directing, designing costumes and special effects, make up or even fight and intimacy coordination. She’s incredibly honored to be a part of this production and hope you all enjoy the show.

  • Caroline Martindale

    LADY MONTAGUE / GREGORY / SECOND MUSICIAN / PAGE

    Caroline (she/her) makes her first appearance at Fort Salem Theater in “Romeo and Juliet.” Previous theater credits include “1776” (A Leather Apron and A Painter) with Home Made Theater and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” (Monk Choir) at Hudson Falls High School. When not onstage or writing for her local newspaper, Caroline enjoys reading, singing, writing stories, and perusing vinyl record stores.

  • Tess McHugh

    NURSE / BALTHASAR

    Tess returns to Fort Salem Theater after appearing as Jane/Miss De Bourgh in Pride and Prejudice and Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Recently, she starred as Rosalind in As You Like It at Hubbard Hall, where her previous credits include Dancing at Lughnasa (Christina) and Twelfth Night (Olivia). Other favorite roles include The Marvelous Wonderettes: Dream On (Bennington Theater), Macbeth (Lady Macbeth), Legally Blonde (Elle Woods), and Firebringer (Keeri) with Walloomsac River Theatre Company; Comedy of Errors (Adriana, Pittsfield Shakespeare in the Park); Voices for Peace (Kathy Kelly, Creative Action Unlimited); and Hurricane Diane (Beth, Harbinger Theatre).

  • Kevin Miner

    MERCUTIO / SAMSON / SECOND WATCHMAN

    Kevin (he/him) is thrilled to return to Fort Salem Theater for this show. From Glens Falls, NY, Kevin has been active in the local community theater space since 2017. Notable Roles: The Berkshire Players’ Rocky Horror Picture Show (Rocky), GFCT’s The Addams Family Musical (Gomez), Fort Salem’s Into the Woods (Cinderella’s Prince), Itheater Saratoga’s An Evening with Poirot (Hastings), Hubbard Hall’s Eurydice (Hades) Classic Theater Guild’s Dracula (Dracula), and SLOC’s School of Rock (Theo). He is also active in the local music and 518 Film communities, earning music and writing credits on multiple short films, including the award winning short films, “The Cabinet” and“Devour”. When not on stage, Kevin is running with the Glens Falls Run Club, or hosting The UnPop Podcast alongside Denver based YouTuber, Odie Matthews. He is grateful to Fort Salem, his friends, and family for their kinship, love, and passionate support.

  • Vincent Panetta

    PARIS / ABRAHAM

    Vincent (he/him) is a 19 year old Italian American, and is excited to return to Fort Salem Theater. Vincent has been seen before as Hyde/Lanyon in Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde at the Dorset Playhouse, Howie Newsome in Our Town and ensemble in Kinky Boots at Fort Salem theater, Harry “Jazzbo” Haywood in A Christmas Carol Radioplay with One Room Theatrics, Bill in Sure Thing at The Dorset playhouse, a Seabee in South Pacific, at the MACC, and Le Beau at Hubbard Hall. Vincent is part of SAG-AFTRA and does acting professionally and can be seen in the background of several recent feature films, such as “Happy Gilmore 2”, “Caught Stealing”, “Deliver me from Nowhere” and more. Vincent also placed 9th in the NYC Timothee Chalamet lookalike competition, for his likeness to Bob Dylan Chalamet, and was featured in Vogue, US weekly, ABC News, and several other news outlets for it.   • Allison Schmitt

    LORD CAPULET / APOTHECARY

    Allison (she/her) is so excited to be a part of this romantic story again, eleven years after performing it for the first time! Allison graduated from Penn State University in 2020 with a degree in Photojournalism and a minor in Theatre; she is currently the Digital Communications Specialist at The Hyde Collection in Glens Falls, NY. Allison has been seen onstage in the area at Fort Salem Theater in “Good For You” (Soul Pennie) and “Beethoven: Live in Concert” (Ensemble), and in Glens Falls Community Theatre's productions of “Rent” (Ensemble), “Clue: Live” (Mrs. Peacock), “The Addams Family” (Alice Beinike) and “School of Rock” (Ensemble); she originated the role of Effie Witherman in Company of Curiosities staged reading of “Solstice: A New Musical.” Other favorite credits include “The Little Mermaid” (Ursula), “The Pillowman” (Michal), “Ordinary Days” (Deb), “Our Town” (Mrs. Gibbs), “High School Musical” (Coach Bolton), “The SpongeBob Musical” (Mayor of Bikini Bottom), and “Steel Magnolias” (Annelle). As always, Allison dedicates her performance to her husband (and castmate!) Noah, her soulmate and her Romeo — except hopefully they’ll both live.

    Noah (he/him) is ecstatic to work with Fort Salem Theater for the first time. Past roles include NRT's "RedRum" (Jack Torrance), AoK's "Beauty and The Beast" (Cogsworth), and CPHL's "Treasure Island" (Jim Hawkins). Past production credits include GFCT's "Rent" (Stage Manager), GFCT’s "The Addams Family" (Stage Manager), NRT's "The Complete History of America" (Abd.) (Director),and NRT's "War of the Worlds" (Director). Noah would like to thank his wife, Allison, for always cheering him on, and this community for their continued support of the theatrical arts on a local level.

  • Clem Washington-Flowers

    BENVOLIO

    Clem (they/them) is thrilled to make their Fort Salem Theatre debut with this wonderful cast/team! They were most recently in "Puffs" (Cedric/Voldy) with SLCA. Other previous theatre credits include "Carrie" (Stokes) with Steamer 10 Theatre, and "for colored girls" (Lady in Purple) at Washington University in St. Louis. Clem would like to dedicate their performance to their family (miss you, mom) and friends.

  • Shane Sczepankowski

    DIRECTOR

    Shane is a local Shakespearean with nearly two decades of theatre experience and the co-owner of the traveling Shakespeare company Will Kempe’s Players. He holds a Master of Fine Arts in Shakespeare and Performance from Mary Baldwin University and has performed in numerous iconic roles including Mercutio (Romeo and Juliet), Bottom (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), and Amos Hart (Chicago). A passionate actor, director, and playwright, Shane has directed The Nerd with Memento, Mori and Co., performed in Paul Menzer’s The Brats of Clarence, and written his own adaptation, The Un-Tragedie of Macbeth.

    After nearly a decade in Virginia, Shane returned to Upstate New York, where he continues to make theatrical waves through teaching, playwriting workshops, Shakespeare camps, and after-school theatre programs. His work is inspired by the art of Original Practices Shakespeare and fueled by a desire to share that knowledge with new generations of performers.

    By day, Shane serves as the Director of the Greenwich Youth Center. He is grateful to make his Fort Salem debut with Romeo & Juliet, a play that’s been close to his heart for a long long time. Getting to explore this show with such a talented ensemble has been equal parts fulfillment and discovery. Shane approaches directing by dissecting the language, listening to what the actors already know, and trusting the collective curiosity of the rehearsal room. Collaboration sits at the center of our work. Shane is thankful to this cast and creative team for the trust and joy they bring everyday.

  • Edgar Ritchie

    ASSISTANT DIRECTOR / PROPERTIES DESIGNER

    Edgar (he/they) is thrilled to be directing again for the first time after college. After spending an incredible summer at Will Kempe’s Players performing in Julius Caesar (Brutus) and the Alchemist (Sir Epicure Mammon), he couldn’t be more excited to work with Shane Sczepankowski again. You may have seen him in Hubbard Hall’s production of Twelfth Night (Orsino) or Fort Salem Theater’s productions of the Drowsy Chaperone (Feldzeig), Godspell (George) or Beethoven: Live In Concert (Lichnowsky). He extends his eternal thanks to the rest of the cast and crew for making this show come to life.

  • Courtnie Harrington

    STAGE MANAGER / LIGHTING DESIGNER

    Courtnie (she/her) is a Washington County native who trained at The Institute for American Musical Theater in New York City after graduating from Greenwich High School. While in NYC, she was the hair designer on Hudson Classical Theater’s productions of Pride and Prejudice (Lydia Bennet) and Sense and Sensibility (Charlotte Palmer). Recent credits include Twelfth Night (Sir Toby Belch) with Hubbard Hall, Songs for a New World (Woman 2) at SLOC, and Bright Star (Alice Murphy), Into the Woods (Baker’s Wife), Janet Van De Graff (Drowsy Chaperone), and Susan (Tick, Tick… BOOM!) all at Fort Salem Theater. Courtnie also originated the role of Kayla Charter in Solstice: A New Musical with Company of Curiosities.

    Courtnie has served on the production teams of numerous shows including The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (Stage Manager) with iTheatre Saratoga and Spring Awakening (Stage Manager/Hair Designer), Footloose (Director), Corn!   • Charles J. I. Krawczyk

    RESIDENT SCENIC DESIGNER

    Charles/Chuck (he/him) is a well-rounded artist with experience in creative writing, HDR photography, graphic design and 3D rendering, improvisational piano, original song composition and scenic design for theater. While attending Southern Vermont College 2001-2005 (bachelor’s in liberal arts) he worked summers at Old Castle Theater in Bennington, VT (2000 to 2005) where he learned, by observation, the creative nuances of set design as he worked as a stagehand. Charles is currently the Resident Scenic Designer and an Artistic Associate for Fort Salem Theater where, in October 2021, he debuted a design for The Diary of Anne Frank. In the 2022 season, he went on to design: Little Shop of Horrors, Steel Magnolias, Pride and Prejudice, Grease, The Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition, Bright Star, I Love You Because, Spring Awakening, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, Footloose,  The Little Mermaid Jr., The Pirates of Penzance, The Rocky Horror Slow, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Into the Woods, Beethoven, Godspell, Mary Poppins, The Drowsy Chaperone, Kinky Boots, and Tick, Tick…Boom!, along with designing Grant’s Ghost for Hubbard Hall on the side. Charles has also directed Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus in 2004 at his then-former High School, and The Glass Menagerie at Southern Vermont College in 2009.

    Prior to his work at Fort Salem Theater, Charles has over eight years of set design experience, artistic/stage directing, assistant directing and serving as a theatrical creative-solutions consultant (for a local high school drama club). Shows he has designed there include: The Diary of Anne Frank (2007), Once Upon a Mattress, Rumors, The Importance of Being Earnest, Beauty and the Beast, Into the Woods, Twelve Angry Jurors, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, And Then There Were None, The Sound of Music, Noises Off, Shrek the Musical, and ended his run there with The Mousetrap (2015).

    After taking some time away from theatrical design Charles feels truly thankful and honored to reignite his passion for design at Fort Salem Theater and is very honored to have helped design Grant’s Ghost for Hubbard Hall’s current presentation.

  • Kyle West

    PRODUCER

    Kyle (he/him) has three decades of creating award-winning theatre under his belt, working as a producer, director, choreographer, designer, and performer. His work has been seen all across the US, from Cape Cod, to Boston, Arizona and Dallas, to New York and has been recognized by the AriZoni Awards of Excellence, BroadwayWorld Awards, Column Awards, Annie Award, MET Awards, and MHSDG Awards, among others.

    Most recently, Kyle took a brief sabbatical from Fort Salem Theater to serve as Company Manager for the esteemed Williamstown Theatre Festival, where he led a company of 350 artists and staff members. There, he worked alongside the talents of Pamela Anderson, Amber Heard, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Susan Sarandon, Kate Walsh, Chris Messina, Brandon Flynn, Whitney Peak, William Jackson Harper, Elizabeth Lail, Tonatiuh, Jensen McRae, among many others.

    At Fort Salem Theater, he has directed and choreographed “Salem Under The Stars,” “The Marvelous Wonderettes,” “Next to Normal,” “There’s No Business Like Snow Business,” “Grease,” “The Pirates of Penzance,” “Agnes of God,” and “Mary Poppins” and has designed costumes for FST’s “Pride & Prejudice,” “Grease,” and “Bright Star.” Other direction and choreography credits include “Hairspray,” “Evita,” “White Christmas,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Guys and Dolls,” “The Music Man,” Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” “West Side Story,” “Into the Woods,” “RENT,” “The Rink,” “Little Shop of Horrors,” “A Chorus Line,” “Chicago,” “La Cage aux Folles,” and “Cabaret.”

    Kyle is humbled to be the executive and artistic director of Fort Salem Theater, and in June 2023, was named one of the Top 10 New York State LGBTQ+ Leaders by I ❤️ NY.
